About me

I teach continuous classes and workshops of contact improvisation (ci) since 2013.

I have a deep trust in ci, which to me is a transformative and emancipatory practice that can empower people and communities. In practicing ci, we can update our self and body images, rethink our social roles and gender relationships and also research any kind of individual questions.

In my ci research I am influenced mostly by, among others: Nancy Stark Smith, Jörg Haßmann, Daniel Werner, Alessio Trevisani, Frey Faust, Martin Keogh, Ray Chung, Irene Sposetti – and my students. Most importantly, I have learned and continue to learn from so many inspiring dancers in the vibrant and challenging local and worldwide ci community.

Dancers I've worked with and who inspired me include: Christin Schmidt, Ulrike Christl, Susanne Held, Dieter Heitkamp, Elisa Ghion, Eva Janotta, Florian Busch, Heike Pourian, Irene Sposetti.

I took the Dance-Trainee Program for Contemporary and Classical Dance at the Leipzig Dance Theatre and long-term programs with Nancy Stark Smith and Jörg Haßmann/Daniel Werner. I am taking part in a 4-year training to become a Gestalt therapist (started 2021-01).

In teaching I want to create an environment, an experiential space that may allow unusual experiences. Gestalt therapy and the philosophy of the mind are foundations of my attitude towards learning.

Inspirations also come from taiji, zen, embodied cognition and cognitive neuroscience. I used to be an academic researcher and hold a PhD in biology. I stand for rigorous thinking, precise language and priority of experience over theory.

I live with my family and have two kids.

Teaching experience: I have taught more than 1000h of class in over 50 weekend workshops, several years of regular weekly classes and classes at festivals.
